Antwis Cottage, Binham, Norfolk

About the area

Binham is a very small North Norfolk village.  The cottage is within a few minutes walk away from the Priory and its interesting ruins, general store, butchers and a Public House (the Chequers), which serves good food and brews their own ale. We also have a small shop that sells pretty things with free refreshments!!!

Wells-next-the-Sea is 5 miles away with beach huts, sandy beaches (with basking seals), dunes and pinewoods.  The Quay at Wells has a hundred year old Dutch sailing ship where you can eat pancakes on board the ship.  Children love to catch crabs (we call them Gillies) with a line off the quay wall.

Just along the coast from Wells is Holkham Beach with a vast open beach and more dunes and pinewoods.  The spectacular Holkham Hall set in acres of parkland, (with deer) a lake and woodland.

There are wonderful restaurants, cafes and gastro-pubs in the area. Also interesting shops in nearby Holt and Burnham Market to explore.  Farmers markets in Walsingham and Fakenham sell Norfolk fresh produce.

Beautiful Blakeney harbour is not far, where you can catch a boat and see the seals. and the Nature Reserve, at Blakeney point. Also, the Norfolk Wildlife Trust Reserve is at Cley-next-sea, where there is a bird observation centre.

Stiffkey, (3 miles away,) has a huge expanse of remote salt-water marshes where you can walk out to the sea. Why not park your car at Stiffkey and take the coastal Hopper (Bus) to Cromer one way or as far as Hunstanton the other way.
